Hello,
My name is Brady, I am the son of Veranda & Fraizer.  This page is set up to discuss the development of dogs, & what new owners can expect from their puppy's behavior & growth during his first year. .. I am the chosen Mis B-Haven Doodle to watch grow on this page. Keep an eye on my sunggle puppy, in the follwoing pictures, he it shrinking or am I growing?
8-12 weeks
Your puppy is becoming more coordinated able to play & jump with accuracy.
They are extremely curious, & can show fear towards "New Things". He will
start to lose his puppy teeth towards week 12. . His Immune system is not
fully developed, & it is crucial that a vaccination schedule be established. His
attention span is extremely short, like that of a 2 year old human, therefore:
you can introduce training, but do not expect too much. You may introduce basic
commands such as Leash Training, & coming when called. Keep your sessions under
5 minutes. It is important to take your puppy out for Potty breaks often, & remember
it is a fact that 10-15 minutes after eating or hard play you puppy will have to relieve himself. Daily naps are extremely important to a puppy, make sure you allow for some down time.

Brady @ 8 weeks..
12-16 weeks
The puppy's coordination is well developed. These are the weeks that is most critical for proper socialization. Right now your puppy's brain is like a sponge, soaking in everything. 16 weeks of age is when your Vaccinations should be complete, you may still want to wait to take your puppy into the world to play with other dogs, or to PetCo (where the Pets Go) because even though your her last vaccine was administered you need to wait 2 weeks for it to give immunity..  Your puppy needs to know you love & care for them, they are extremely sensitive, & get their feelings hurt easily at this age. Use treats to encourage, but never forget the most powerful tool in your puppy's life, let them know that they pleased you, that is all they want to do. Destructive behavior is a symptom of boredom, but don't confuse chewing as destructive behavior, remember your puppy is teething & it feels good to chew on soft rubber (that is why shoes are a favorite). Dogs do not have the mind set or ability to "get revenge" so don't interpret them tearing up the backyard as them "getting back at you" for putting them outside while you were at the market, in their mind they were just playing.  Like all Mis B-Haven Doodles, they are just having fun.

4-6 Months
At this time in your puppy's life is when you get to start to really enjoy
parenthood of a puppy.Your puppy is now capable of holding her bladder
all night long, which means no more middle of the night backyard visits.
Your puppy's vaccinations are complete & you may now go out into the
world to explore, Her attention span is now finally long enough for 1 hour
training sessions, it is important that you begin training at this time.Be
sure to check her collar often, she is going through major growth  spurts.
A neat tool to know, when she is 4 months old, take her weight & double
it, & there you have a good estimate on her adult weight. Now is the BEST
time to spay or neuter. Please make an appointment with your Vet to have this procedure done. In females it is important to spay her BEFORE she has her first heat. & Males BEFORE sexual tendencies start to occur. In males sexual tendencies are leg lifting & roaming or trying to get away to find a mate. To keep your boys at home & safe neutering is the best tool you can offer him.

Brady @ 6 months..
6-9 Months
These Years are what is commonly called the "Teenage Years" Just like Human Teenagers, it is important to maintain your "I'm the Boss" role in your puppy's life. He may start to challenge your position as the "Top Dog".Stay Firm, now is when they start to get brave, if not altered, sexual behaviors start to show, males lift their legs, & females have heat cycles. They tend to get more bored, & may pick up a few of those bad habits you thought you rid. Chewing, digging, nipping, etc.. Just use the same methods you used a few months ago. He is still the same puppy you know & love, just a little more independent. Reinforce good manners, & all types of good behavior. Try to keep your pup with you as much as possible to prevent bad habits from developing.

9 Months - 1 Year
Your just about there, you are almost out of puppy hood, Life as you dreamed with your
new family member will be here before you know it. Your puppy is just about reached her
full height, she still may have some "filling out" to do, but her weight from now on
up to you as her owner, you need to keep her weight managed, You can take her to the
Vet on her 1 year Birthday to have an annual Vet visit, at this appointment you need to
have the Vet check her teeth, skin, coat, eyes, ears, & over all health, Her Rabies & 5in1
Vaccination booster are due at this time, Renew your Heart worm, medication, & go ahead
& have your Vet check A stool sample to check for parasites, if any are found, then
administer the proper de-wormer. If your puppy is not yet spayed or neutered,
NOW is the time, please do not wait any longer.
Separation anxiety is a concern at this age, your puppy may start a "clinging behavior". or obsessively following you from room to room. Crying at the bathroom door until you come out..
The best way to avoid this from intensifying try to not make a big deal of your coming & going. Try not to feed her as soon as you walking the door, But never ignore her. Now is a great time to look into Canine Good Citizen programs, you can test & certify your dog for therapy work, it is rewarding for you, & the people you help.
Plus it gives you bragging rights. Your puppy is now allowed to train for more intense physical activities, such as agility, it is a blast & she will LOVE it. Ask your local trainer about agility.
Your puppy is now a dog in body, but still very much a puppy at heart, Hug & Love her everyday.
CONGRATULATIONS YOU DID IT YOU MADE IT THROUGH THE 1ST YEAR!!
