.Q: What is the difference between first generation & multi generation?
A: First generation means that they are 50% retriever & 50% poodle.--- F1b means that they are 75% poodle & 25% retriever --- multi generation means that they are at least 3 generations.. .
Q: Why do you only breed the mini & medium size doodles?
A: I do not like to ship my puppies, so the majority of my puppies stay in California, & most of the families live in a typical California sized yard, the Standard doodles (60pounds +) tend to get too large to live a mentally balanced life in a smaller yard, the Medium size doodle is the perfect size for a family that does not want a Huge dog or a family that doesn't want a little dog, they are still as active & playful as the standards, just in a smaller package. Most families with young children do not need/want a huge dog overwhelming their children, so the medium doodle is a perfect balance.
Q: I have allergies to dogs, do you recommend a doodle for me?
A: That is the point of these dogs, Yes but you need to talk to your breeder about what type of coat you may be able to handle
Q: Since these dogs are so smart, are they easier to take care of?
A: NO!!!!!!! This is one of the main reasons that doodles are being re-homed, People think just because they are supposed to be smart they can raise themselves.... VERY UN-TRUE, If you do not stimulate these dogs mentally in a positive manor you will be very disappointed in your doodle.
Q: Are they really Hypoallergenic?
A: No! There is no such dog as 100% hypoallergenic, They can be extremely allergy friendly depending on the generation & coat type.
Q: Why is it so important to buy a puppy from breeders who health screen their breeding dogs?
A: No body wants to get a puppy, love it & accept it as a family member, & 5 years down the road they develop these crippling diseases, they are in pain & can no longer do what they used to do, & eventually have to be put to sleep. Health screening the parent dogs, help dramatically reduce the chance of their puppies developing these genetic diseases.
Q: Isn't shipping hard on the puppies?
A: The toughest part for the puppy is the fact that they will be alone for the first time in their life. They are flown only in Pressure & Temperature Controlled Cargo Departments, & they arrive same day. We will ship a puppy if there is no other alternative for you, we prefer to NOT ship our babies, mostly because it is hard for ME to put them on a plane, it is easier for me, if YOU pick them up & I get to see you cuddle, & hold the puppy as you drive off.. Sorry I love these babies, & it is just hard for me..
Q: What is Micro Chipping?
A: Micro Chipping is the best way to have your dog returned Safely home to you in the sad case that he gets lost.
Micro Chips are injected into your dog usually at the back of his neck. The chips are entered into a nationwide data base so if your dog ever shows up at a shelter they are required by law to scan every dog that comes in, & that Chip will be detected with your name, address, & phone number so that your dog will be returned to you.
Micro chips are about the size of a grain of rice, they are not noticed by you or the dog. Safe & very effective.
Q: Do you Ship?
A: Yes! We will ship a puppy if you are not able to find a puppy closer to you & we are your ONLY chance to get a puppy that you want, we really prefer to NOT ship our babies, it is safe, but we prefer NOT to.. We prefer you to pick the puppy , this gives us a chance to meet each other in person, gives you a chance to meet the parents, & see where your puppy was born & has lived during her life so far.
Q: Why do you breed Doodles ?
A: I got into this breed after growing up with my parents raising labs, they were forced to get out of breeding labs when myself & my sister & my brother got into sports & there was no time to devote the attention to breeding. We still always have had dogs, just took a break from breeding. My son also has asthma, & it is nice to breed dogs that are going to be safe for him to be around. They are extremely intelligent, they are awesome family dogs, well pretty much the same reasons why you want one for a pet,
Q: Are these dogs AKC Registered?
A: No they are not, There are registries for them but AKC does not recognize them
Q; What is the difference between a GOLDENdoodles & a Labradoodle?
A; The main difference is in the first generation. The F1 GOLDENdoodles is more like the F1b Labradoodle, you can usually count on them to be much more allergy friendly than the F1 Labradoodle. There is NO difference between the dogs as far as temperaments, or dispositions.
Q; So Male of Female?
A; There is NO difference between a Male or Female doodle, as long as you have them altered (spayed or neutered). Males will not have the desire to hike their legs & "mark" their territory if they are neutered. Temperaments are no different between males or females, it is more important to find a right match of temperament rather than gender. http://www.goldendoodles.com/Resource/breeder_notes21.htm
Q: Do you require your dogs to be spayed or neutered?
A: Yes,, Our puppies will are sold with spay neuter contracts. Breeding rights may be purchased at an additional price. This is to protect the health of the dog, this is simply medical, if you do not plan on breeding your dog, it is ALWAYS BEST to have them altered, especially for the females, when females go through heat cycles with out having puppies, it greatly increases their chances of cancer.
Q; WOW its looks like you have so many dogs,, how many do you have at your house? are they in kennels?
A; Mis B-Haven Doodles has a nice & neat way of keeping our dogs. NOT all of them are in one single place. I have many of them separated into close family & friends homes, this way our breeding program may grow & expand BUT.. we do not worry about the dog's well being & important needs of being loved & a family member. We do have some of our dogs in dog runs at my parents house. They live on 3 acres, & the dogs do not LIVE in the runs, they are played with daily, & have more room to run than most city dogs. Our dogs are ALL VERY happy, if you ever come to meet them you will know for sure, our dogs are loved, happy, friendly, socialized, trained, & most importantly they are family... In my personal backyard I only have 4 dogs, I am limited because of City laws, Fraizer, & Broadie ALWAYS live with me, & I keep the pregnant & nursing moms at my house, so the puppies are socialized with my children. This type of breeding program is commonly used among breeders that do NOT like their dogs in kennels, it is usually referred to as "the Guardian Program"..
Q; How long do you keep your puppies before I can bring them home??
A; 8 weeks NO exceptions, later if needed, but absolutely NO sooner than 8 weeks.
