Hi, we (above) are all Mis B-Haven Doodles, to the far left is "Guiness" the chocolate is "Moose", the cream in front is Lexy, the apricot in back is "Bailey", the black is "Ruthie", & the far right is "Rookie"..
This is a page is designed to let future puppy buyers know what past puppy buyers felt about Jodi as a breeder, her breeding practices, her dogs, & their puppy. Jodi sent them a Survey type form to fill out & asked them to answer as honestly as they could. Not everybody feels the same way about things so we expect to have some different opinions remarks, but she will post EVERY Submission that was returned, good or bad. Nothing they said or entered has been edited, Jodi copy & pastes it directly here. So what you see is what they said. Starting Oct 2005, she will also post emails & pictures that owners have sent her as their puppy has grown into adults. We hope this can help your confidence in choosing Jodi as your labradoodle or goldendoodle breeder.
Additional Comments I did not buy a pup from Jodi, she was very helpful in finding another breeder for me. She was aware that I wanted a Medium for my daughter for her birthday, and would have had to wait too long for one from her. If I had it to do over (even though I love my pup) I would wait and deal with Jodi... she is so caring and honest, she and I have become good friends over the internet EVEN THOUGH I bought from someone else. Please feel free to contact me if you want anymore info...she is a person who truly cares about customers and her dogs FIRST, I HIGHLY recommend you buy a dog from her!!!!

Additional Comments Thank you, your little princess is just adorable.
Additional Comments Jodi, you were so helpful and nice. Teddy came to us in perfect, healthy condition. He was obviously so well loved and socialized. Thank you again. We are excited for the arrival of our second Miss B-Haven Doodle pup!
Additional Comments Enjoyed the experience. The puppy was healthy and happy, confirmed by our vet's exam. The only negative detail was that she had some fleas, which might have been spotted before we picked her up. Advantage took care of them right away.

Additional Comments Thanks Jodi! We are so happy!!
Additional Comments Jodi was really wonderful. My daughter and I loved the experience of meeting our puppy's Mom while she was pregnant and then visiting our puppy from the time he was 3 weeks old until he came home. Jodi was great with answering all my questions honestly and responding to my emails. I would not hesitate to get another puppy from Misbehaven Doodles.
Additional Comments I waited to fill-out the form until Pepper's digestive problem completely cleared up. I can say that finally her tummy has settled down. She is a dream dog, a great companion, but still with plenty of spunk. We could not be happier with her. And she's soooooooo good lookin'!
Additional Comments Jodi was very responsive to ALL of our questions and emails before bringing Kai home and made an EXCELLENT choice in matching us up w/Kai!!

Additional Comments We couldn't be happier with our puppy, she is the smartet, sweetest, most lovable dog we've ever had...and the whole experience was great! We would definitely adopt through Mis B-Haven Doodles again!!
Additional Comments Cooper made the adjustment easily into our home. Jodi has done a good job delivering a happy healthy puppy to us. The website was very helpful. I just wished she could update it with new pictures more often as the puppies grow. It was hard to live such a distance that we could not visit. We wanted to hear updates more often. Cooper is a doll, and we adore him!
Additional Comments Jodi is great lady. She invited us to visit the puppies before pick up day which we did and enjoyed very much. The mother dogs Veranda, Credenza and Ariel were at Jodis either the 1st or 2nd time that we came out. They were perfect. Gentle, sweet, and loving. No suprise that they would produce such wonderful puppies. Our new little Barkley is everything we could of hoped for.
Additional Comments We LOVE Dutch. He's an awesome addition to our family. My co-worker that has raised and shown poodles met Dutch and said he has such an awesome temperament (which to me meant something as she's seen LOTS and LOTS of poodles). He is just a great dog, besides the fact that he's the cutest puppy/dog we've ever seen - and many people tell us the same thing.

Pepper is great! She reached maximum size at about 7 or eight months, @ 65 pounds. Her hair can be very long and waivy. She has some grey on one ear and a few grey hairs along the spine. We thought for a while that she would go more silver-tipped, but that didn't happen. We have taken to having her sheared about every 3 or 4 months to keep maintenance down and because she seems more comfortable that way. She is a complete delight -- as I've always told your inquiring new customers, the perfect blend of both breeds -- devoted, smart, fun. She has two new playmates, two kittens we found in the redwood forest
in NoCal, a long story involving all seven of us sleeping in a tent. As always, we're terrible about organizing our family photos, dealing with technology and all. When I get a chance and figure it all out, I'll send a shot. Hope all is well with you. Jay

my camera isn't working but as soon as I can I will send you pix's...Lucy will be a year old Dec. 8th!!! We did have her spayed....we want her to have as long a life as possible....she cracks us up always loving and fun and is nuts about kids...when the kids play in the culdesac she looks out the window and runs back and forth in front of the door whining and barking...I let her out and she runs to each one with a loving ....they even come to the door to see if she can come out and play....Janan's Betty is the most beautiful blue gray with a platinum gray batch of hair on the head...she and Lucy play continuously when together....she is a little more then 1/2 the size of lucy....Lucy is 28 lbs. now....I think I should feed her once a day now...what do you think?.....Are you still busy with waiting lists and such....anymore mini's....oh, by the way, Lucy is a great travelor and adjusts to anywhere we are....great selling point...her hair never mats and is very curly and soft....My favorite part of her looks is her eyes.....can you tell we love her tremendously....send me pixs of any of her brothers or sisters....Love to you, Terri
Hi Jodi
I know its been forever since we've sent any news. Lily is doing great. She has settled into a life of romping around, training classes, fetch, fetch and more fetch and winning the hearts of even the most confirmed dislikers of dogs. She is cute as a button, 20 lbs only, very light shedding....we see her fur when we sweep but not on clothes etc. and mistaken at times for a mini terrier mix unless she is groomed...then people think she is a lab puppy....some neighbors keep asking me if we got another dog because they expect to see us with a full size lab by now.

Judi & Jodi,
Both of you will be happy to know the Doof (or as Tom calls her, "Baby") had a wonderful time during our holiday camping trip! We knew that she really liked the water ... but OMG!!!!!! She loves it!!!!!! I was very concerned that she would get a sunburn on her nose; especially where the hair on her nose forms a part & her skin was showing. So, we would let her play for 10 or 15 minutes & then make her come out & would have to hook her to a cable.
Every one was very impressed with how calm & "ho hum" she was when we did fireworks last night. It was just no big deal for her ... I thought maybe it was because she has a half sister named Liberty. LOL.
The wife of the couple that owns the property on the lake, even said that the Doods won the most improved puppy behavior award. And, I agree! The only time she went into the (hated) kennel, was when we went to dinner one night. (Even then it was only for 2 hours.)
She was so very good & had such a good time. I hate to put her in the kennel tonight when I go to bed. She really does not like it at all; but, she steals stuff & eats it. I'm thinking about sleeping in my recliner tonight, just to help her transition back into the kennel, or crate, or whatever you call it. I think with a day or two, I can Doofus proof our bedroom & maybe she can sleep with us like she did these last 4 days. Not sure how good that may be .... she really hogs the bed!
I just wanted you to know how much fun she had & how well she did with the fireworks. I've never seen a dog so okay with the noise of fireworks! She is awesome ... always known that, but it's just been confirmed!
Still don't like it that she prefers Big Daddy over me! She's my puppy, not his ....... yeah, right!
Hope your holiday was a good one!
Love,
k

Hi Jodie,
Just a quick not to say Hi and wish you and the family a safe and wonderful summer.
We took Ruthie up to Lake Convict for her first fishing trip. She had a blast! She had such a good time we have scheduled another trip in July. She was such a good girl...on the trail walking around the lake and just hanging out fishing.....The only problem was each time we caught a fish, she was eager to jump in the water to help us reel it.....too funny.....I ended up having to tie her up cuz she was causing such a scene in the lake.
Our trip was all good fun. I cannot tell you how much joy and happiness she has brought us.

Hi Jodi,
I just wanted to tell you how much we are loving having Cezanne in our lives. She's the most fun puppy ever. She's also smart as a whip. She can already sit, stay and come. I thought you might like to see some new pictures also.
I was checking out the Web site. It sure looks like you have your hands full with a whole new litter. Wow. You must be busy. Plus you still have two of Cezanne's litter mates -- they are soooo cute. I can't believe no one has snatched them up.
Anyway, take care and know you've helped bring a lot of joy into our lives.

Wilson sends birthday barks to all.
He is now 34 pounds with long, wavy hair. It does not tangle so he has not been to a groomer yet. I trim the long facial hair around his eyes so that he can see. He definitely has a shaggy dog look.
We will be starting agility classes this week. I have a feeling there is still a lot of puppy in him and he doesn't have the focus needed to learn the training, but I know we will have fun trying. The instructor may tell us to come back in a few months when he has matured.
Wilson has a great appetite, especially for anything he finds in the trash, like Kleenex, and for the orthotics in my running shoes. He takes great delight in rummaging through the trash, even after we have sprayed the trash with Bitter Apple, vinegar and every deterrent sold at Petco. Spraying him with a water bottle has not stopped him either.
I have loved going through all of the puppy stages. He is developing into an absolutely wonderful dog. We love him!

Hi Everybody,
I wanted to write and let you know how I am doing in my new home. I
have been here a month and a half now, and it feels like forever
because it all belongs to me. Even my sister, Cassidy Kitty lets me
have my way. My new Mom and Dad try to tell me what to do, but they
are no match for my puppy will. I am the center of this household and
frankly, I wouldn't have it any other way!
Here is me in my crate. My parents put it next to their bed and I
sleep in it. My sister likes to sleep on top, where she can look down
on me from the top vent. That's okay, because as soon as we get up in
the morning I'm going to chase her all around the house.

Hi Jodi
That's really nice to hear about lexy and maggie definitely has some similar
traits. She loves to watch the birds in our backyard. She is really a
sweetheart and we are crazy about her. Hopefully some day, perhaps at the
next doodle romp, maggie and lexy can meet up. I will keep an eye on the
website for information on ariel and frazier. I've attached some pictures of
maggie. she's quiet the retriever and loves to swim!! These are recent
pictures of her with her haircut as it's pretty hot for her with all that
hair. We find that she prefers the shade wherever she can find it.
Cheers, susie

Hi! I will try and get some photos to you soon- Libby is sooooo cute. We are in love. She is 10 lbs. now and really a wonderful puppy. She has had a handful of potty accidents in the house - but for the most part they were my fault as I wasn't paying attention to her needs. She sleeps in the crate all night - until about 6AM. Some of our favorite activities include watching her bark at her reflection in the sliding glass door, watching her drink from the dripping hose, walking with her as she fearlessly leaps on the back (or try's to leap on the back) of my friends 70 lb. dog. Libby thinks she is a big dog.
She has lost a few baby teeth and is chewing on everything. She loves to play with other dogs and pretty much anything or anybody. I play games with her - like I put her food in an empty water bottle and she loves trying to get it out, or I put her food in an empty tissue box and she carry the box around and sticks her head in it to eat.
She is very smart and learns easily. We have the sit and down all figured out - now we are working on stay, come and shake.
She is a very sweet dog - and funny too - she loves to dig in the yard and she eats everything....lizard skin, worms, rolly pollys, leaves, tissue, whatever!
Got to go! We will send photos soon.
Marcie

Jodi,
Sorry for not getting to you sooner. We've both been challenged at work with
new things and then added the baby to our lives.
Ness wanted to write a letter to you about that 'thing' you sent home for her!
Definitely a much different dog than Ness! Madi is full of 'piss and vinegar'!
She wakes between 4:30 and 5:30, without exception. After a visit outside, she
corrupts Ness' snuggle time with play time. Makes not for happy-Ness. Madi is
a digger and loves to consume Geraniums.
Madi goes to work with Mom or Dad every day (we frightened of what will happen
at home) and has a baby sitter if we go out on the weekend evenings.
Yesterday was a tough day. Madi arrive home with Mom and Dad about 6:00 and
played (hard) with Ness. Consuming mass amounts of food and running around the
yard like a headless chicken. The back door remained open, for air and animal
passage. Madi found her favorite mud hole (in one of the flower beds) and went
swimming and chasing Ness into the kitchen and family room! Once that was
cleaned up and dinner was finished, Mom and Dad settled in for a bit of TIVO
only to have Madi spot the throw rug with a little #1. Again, once that was
cleaned up, Mom and Dad settled in for a bit of TIVO only to have Madi hurl
dinner onto the pup's family room pillow. Again, once that was cleaned up, Mom
and Dad settled in for a bit of TIVO only to have Madi and Ness begin Thursday
night wrestling practice!
We're pooped!
She has her times though. She really is better for outside potty than Ness was.
Much fewer accidents. Her ears are quite poodle with an extraordinary amount of
hair, which we have had the vet do some work on during vaccination time. They
also trimmed her eyes. She's got the best woe is me eyes!
I'll have to get some pictures of them this weekend. I might make a short video
of them doing the ring around the flower bed. Ness has learned how to make Madi
do most of the work on that one!
Talk more later!

Hello Jodi!
We purchased a standard doodle from you almost one year ago. We got
a female doodle from Shasta and Boomer. We named her Brodie! She is
absolutely the BEST dog ever!!!!! We love her to pieces. She is huge
and acts like a baby. The kids adore her and she is an angel with
them. We could not have asked for a better dog. My daughter wants
me to tell you that Brodie also likes to burp a lot - it makes us all
laugh. I will send a photo soon - I promise.
I hope all is well with you and your dogs. We were just looking on
your website and I see you are no longer breeding the standards -
why? They are the best. We see Rookie almost every day. He is a
medium doodle purchased by Ronda Giardini. He and Brodie are the
best of friends. They look like one giant fluff ball when they
play. He is also a very good dog.
Thanks for the darling Christmas card. We always love seeing the
doggies!
Thanks also for giving up a precious member of our family!!
xo

Thanks for much for the update! Congratulations on the new puppy! Both Ness and Madi are adorable. I remember Broadie well, he peed on me once when I was visiting our litter of puppies! Madi sounds like a busy little girl. Brady liked drip irrigation lines when he was a puppy too. He has since out grown them, with a little help from bitter apple, thank goodness.
Brady has a little sister too, of the feline sort! Her name is Ally, as in Ally Cat. We adopted her at the farmer market last Sept. Brady loves Ally, they sleep together. Ally will play chase with Brady in the evening, during the day she likes to nap. Brady is a great dog and we love him more everyday. This year he enjoyed opening Christmas presents under the tree while we were gone. He particularly enjoyed DVD boxes. It was really strange, he normally doesn't get into anything, I guess he thought the presents were for him. Thanks for keeping in touch.
Happy New Year to All!
Tracy
Hi everyone.
It’s closing in on our puppies second birthday and I thought I would update you about Veranda’s girl, Ness.
She’s turned into quite an incredible dog. Easy to train and one of the most lovable dogs I’ve ever met. We have had multiple offers to relieve us of the burden of caring for her. She has only one fetish and that is tennis balls. She has a difficult time putting them down to eat and even falls to sleep with them in her mouth!
In August last year we introduced another of Jodi’s puppies into her life. Madigan (Gaelic for ‘Little one’). Madi is ¼ Lab and ¾ Poodle. She is Rebecca and Broadie’s creation. She is a delight. My mother-in-law calls her the Devil Dog; had she been born human, she would be on Ridalin! She has an abundance of energy and an internal alarm clock that goes off between 4:30 and 5:00 AM, every day! Ness does an excellent job of ‘calming’ her (wearing her out). Housebreaking is about half complete. She just can’t get the hang of doing the BIG stuff outside, much to my dismay. Up until the first of the year, she had been relegating her chewing to her sisters Nylabones. This past week she has discovered all of the drip irrigation lines! Ugh. She doesn’t dig in the grass like Ness did as a puppy. Madi digs in the flower beds, allows water to collect from the sprinklers and then plays MUD. Mud doesn’t show up on a black dog like it does on a white dog! Hence, occasional evenings cleaning floors and dogs!
Hope this finds you well and enjoying you dogs.
Hello there
It is just past Ezra’s first birthday (Jan 25) I thought I would drop you both a line.
He is just adorable – the funniest most playful dog you could imagine and we just love him. He is still very nervous outside of the house and with anyone apart from Steve and me, although he is getting to accept a woman who comes in once a week and a friend of Steve’s whom he also sees once a week. He and our son’s golden doodle are the best of friends and love to play together. Some recent snow turned him into a snow plough – he put his nose in the snow and ran around the back with his nose in the snow. Apart from eating anything we leave lying around when we go out he is very good and perfectly house trained now. Loves to be brushed!!. He is VERY beautiful as you can see from the pictures. In some places his fur is very long and not so curly and in others very sort and very curly and going grey in places.
We feel sad that he seems to want to play all the time and we don't always have the time and energy to do so – he goes for long walks every day and has play times at least twice a day (we have a big back area for him to play in) but still he does so adore to have another dog to play with so we are thinking of getting another dog, but maybe a smaller dog – he is huge and I have great difficulty holding him on the leash. I could NEVER manage two such big fellows.
What is your experience with introducing a new dog to a one year old? Seeing he does always want to play with every dog we see as we walk him, we think he would be fine. Do you think a male or a female would be better? We would also not want a very young puppy. We are interested to hear what you think would work best
Hope all is well there – we know you had a very cold snap that killed lots of the fruit
We wish you and all your dogs a very good year in 2007
With our best wishes
Deirdre and Steve and Ezra
Hi Jodi,
I received a request for info on Misbhaven Doodles today and I realized it has been a while since I gave you a Zooker update. I have included some pictures so you can see how absolutely beautiful he is. Zooker is everyone's favorite Dog! All my neighbors love him, his doggie daycare loves him and will literally do anything for him! I know of no-one who has ever met Zooker who does not become a huge fan. He has matured a lot and is a lot calmer but
still has his goofy entertaining antics. He is really ready to pass his K-9 Good Citizen test but I am still not sure and just can't take not passing so I am putting it off for a little while. I do take him to a retirement home and he is still a bit too enthusiastic at first but then gets very gentle when frail people come near him. His big problem is taking his big body and sitting and not
realizing he is on a persons foot or leg. I think he does know I think he just likes to touch so I have to be very aware. Zooker is just a great dog. I just lucked out and I honestly would not change a thing about him. He has the perfect personality. Now that Zooker is older I was so ready for a puppy so.......I started volunteering at a rescue I worked at before Zooker (BZ). It cured me of the puppy needing thing at least for a while. But as much as I love Zooker who
is now 102#'s, next time I am going 40#'s tops. I love his largeness but I am getting to old to handle that much dog again. My Vet (Zookie's biggest fan) thinks he is "the perfect blend of both breeds and a perfect specimen of a dog" and I think if you were still breeding Handsome and Credenza my vet would be the first one on your waiting list. I hope all is well with you and your family. I don't hit the doodle boards very much anymore, Im back at work and just don't
have the time. I do check out MisBhavens Website and always want one of your Puppies - especially Josie's recent litter, one of her puppies looked just like Shayna as a pup. Take care and I am hoping the pic's of Zooker come out
OK.
Best always, Cynthia

Hunting?
Now some people may ask, now how could this be, they are part poodle? Most people have no idea but Poodles were originally bred for hunting, because their coats repel water but seem to attract burs, & stickers they are water retrievers not brush retrievers, it is only been recent years that the poodle has come to be known as a sissy show dog. That couldn't be farther from the truth. From personal experience the Standard poodle is one of the most agile, athletic dogs known to man. Come on over & meet Poof, I can prove it to you, he can jump higher than any of my retrievers, he can leave any dog on the property in the dust in a foot race, he is amazing to watch.
We all know of the amazing reputations that Labrador & Golden Retrievers have for hunting I don't need to explain that to you.
but a DOODLE?
I have a labradoodle pup from Lucy out standard poodle & Dusty a beautiful Yellow Lab, his name is Dubya pronounced (W, with an oakie accent). Dubya was bought by a man named Bill. Bill was on a mission when he bought this lanky labradoodle pup, he was an avid hunter, & had hunted with retrievers in the past, he knew the poodle hunting history & figured that how could a labradoodle not be great at it. He took a chance & bought a Labradoodle.
Dubya was brought home to meet the family & the following day he went to the trainer to stay for 4 months. The trainer was the Animal Trainer for most of the Disney movies. He said that in the 25+ years he has been training dogs, he has NEVER seem a more intelligent dog than Dubya. He also said that in his 25+ years of training dogs he has NEVER ever had the desire to breed, but after seeing Dubya & his trainability & intelligence he was tempted to start breeding labradoodles & training them to hunt. Dubya is a natural, he couldn't be more impressed. A year later Bill is hunting with Dubya & admits that this dog is the best he has ever worked with, he's doing great, he couldn't be happier with him.
So Can you hunt with a doodle? Absolutely they are excellent.
Don't worry about being laughed at, because at the end of the
day, trust me, your hunting buddies will want to know where to get one.
Here is a few pictures of Dubya before he left here, as a puppy, Ill get some new ones of him hunting soon.
Service?
In Modesto California there is a little boy named Jesse & a Goldendoodle named Yankee. Yankee is the son of Mis B-Haven's very own Credenza & Handsome. Jesse suffers from Down Syndrome, Allergies to dogs, Autism, & has recently developed seizures. Yankee is going to play a major part in Jesse's life, he is currently being trained to be a service dog for Jesse. He will be a weight bearing service dog, meaning that Jesse will use Yankee to walk. The most important job Yankee is being trained to do is to early detect Jesse's seizures. In many ways Yankee is being trained to save Jesse from many injuries, in these seizures Jesse falls down onto or into what ever he is near. Yankee will early detect the seizures, get Jesse to a safe place, & alert the adults. Jesse is allergic to dogs, so a goldendoodle was the perfect candidate for this most important job.
There is also a story of Lucy & her labradoodle puppy.
So can you use Doodles for a Service dog? You Bet, & they do wonderful with it.
Here is Jesse, & Family picking up Yankee as a puppy.
Here is Yankee waiting for Jesse to arrive.
Therapy?
One of Crystal & Fraizer's medium labradoodle pups is being used for this very thing. Lilly owned by Sara & family is excelling in therapy work. Lilly has been trained to help elderly, the sick, or anybody else who's spirits are lifted when a cute little dog comes in & motivates them to feel better. Lilly is a very young therapy barely reaching a year old she is currently working. Sara said Lilly turns into a completely different dog when she is working. At home Lilly is the bouncing around young puppy family dog, but at work she understands the difference & calms down & is all business. Sara is so proud of Lilly she says they have may many years of therapy work ahead of them, which is just great because Lilly loves it.
So can you use your Doodle for a Therapy dog? Yep, infact there is many Doodles currently working for Therapy at this current time
Agility?
Of course, they are great at it, I mean think about it, you get the natural agility of the poodle, with the strength & longevity of the retrievers. Meet Scout, he is a F1 labradoodle from our China & Poofster. His owner Jennifer gave me an update on his progress, & I have to say I'm very impressed, Scout took 2nd place in his obedience class, Jennifer said he had 1st place in the bag except on his "Down Stay". He had to be in the Down Stay position for 3 minutes, well after about 2 1/2 minutes he started inching his way back to to the sit position, this small fault bumped him to 2nd place. Jennifer & Scout are now in Level 2 of advanced Obedience, & also doing Agility. From the looks of the pictures below it looks like he is doing great. Good Boy Scout keep up the great work, (& Jennifer too)
So Can doodles do Agility? Not a Problem says Scout..
Heros? They sure can be, let me copy & paste an email I recieved from a VERY proud Doodle Owner, This letter is about a BIG Labradoodle named Harley, Harley is from China & Handsome's 2nd litter of puppies, Harley is Ruthie's littermate.
"Hi Jodi,
Been meaning to drop you a line and tell you about my Hero Harley. Six weeks ago I took a horrible fall walking Harley at the Harbor. I broke my hip and had to have surgery.
Let me get back to the accident. Harley and I were on our daily walk when I tripped on a crack in the sidewalk and took a flying swan dive over Harley. I landed so hard that it knocked me out for a few minutes. I was revived by a warm wet tongue licking my face and soft whining coming from my Sweet Boy. I had landed on my left hip and realized I could not get up. I looked up to see Harley chasing someone and realized it was one of the Harbor Policemen. He brought him over to me and he helped me up. By that time there was a crowd and I was feeling pretty stupid. Harley never left my side and let people get me into my friends car. The Policeman wanted to call the Paramedics but I let him know in no uncertain terms that if Harley couldn't go I wouldn't. Later that afternoon I had surgery.
Harley has been my rock. I tell him to get something I need and he brings it to me. We are back walking, not as far as we were, but he never takes his eyes off me. He's never been trained as a service dog but he's one of the best.
Doodles can be Heroes! Love Linda and Mr Harley T Doodle"
Meet Harley Doodle Linda's Personal Guarian Angel, & Hero

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - A savvy Labradoodle has one lucky owner. Firefighters said Bella, a mix of poodle and Labrador retriever, saved the life of her owner Matt Carcerano on Monday, waking him before his Santa Cruz cottage went up in flames.
At 3:30 a.m. Bella woke Carcerano, a 32-year-old welder, with a combination of growling, whimpering and barking.
"It was weird. I was sound asleep and she made noises I'd never heard before," Carcerano said. "I opened my eyes and it was just orange."
The floor-to-ceiling wall heater in the 50-year-old, two-room cottage was on fire, and Carcerano rushed out in socks and pajamas just as the entire place went up in flames. All of his belongings were destroyed except for a few photo albums he was able to grab.
The cottage had no smoke detectors. Fire department battalion chief Mike Venezio called Bella a lifesaver.
Carcerano said he planned to take Bella for a two-hour romp on her favorite local beach, once he took care of some personal issues.
"I gotta go buy shoes," he said.
